She married Ona D. White in 1942. They made plans to have two children two years apart, having had a boy, Larry, now 69 and then a girl, Marlene, now 67. Ona was a good man who struggled with many health issues. Eleanor had a need to be busy; she was nurturing, yet strong. Eleanor was always ready to take on a task with vigor. It took a toll on her when Ona passed in October 1992 just short of their 50th wedding anniversary. She emerged more independent than before.
In February 1995 she married William Peepe. Bill was a good man too. He had been a prisoner of war during WWII. He came back to Crescent City and built several mills. Bill had lost two wives. He had three children, Saffett, Chris and Polly. Eleanor and Bill were happy working in the backyard shop building and repairing things. Her attributes served them well when Bill passed away in August 2009.
Eleanor emerged vibrant and ready to take on the world and another husband but none could compare to the two she had.
She could never spend enough time with her children and was always ready to help them or anyone else for that matter. Eleanor did not know a stranger and made everyone her friend.
Daughter Marlene married Richard Fechtig and had three sons — Ron, Robert and Randall — and grandchildren Melinda, Andrea, Kate and Ona.
Son Larry married Cheryl and they have two children, Jeff and Michele, and grandchildren Ryan, Dylan, Justin, Anya and Haley.
