Thirty-nine years ago Manuel moved his family from the Azores to Crescent City. He later chose to become a U.S. citizen. Manuel worked in the timber lumber industry for 25 years, retiring from Miller Rellim. Because of his faith in Jesus, Manuel regularly attended Masses at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Manuel was a man of few words, but a man of his word. He always enjoyed his family gatherings because his family was his foundation. He loved to go fishing and playing cards.
Manuel is survived by his children Zelia Maria (Justin), Manuel (Teresa), Fernanda (Layne) and Ana (Danny). He leaves behind his grandchildren Brian (Kelila), Michael (Suzanne), Alicia (Angel), Brenda (Kyle), Kevin (Cheyeanna), Brittany and Ryan. Great-grandchildren Ryan, Brooklyn, Kayden, Romeo, Ellie and Ceanna. His sisters Maria, Teresa and Natel.Including numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Friday, January 31, from 9 a.m. until the Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, February 1, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
