Margaret “Maggi” Anna (Griffith) Dietz passed away on May 1, 2012, in Eureka, shortly after suffering a stroke. Born in Crescent City, on July 3, 1942, to James Gregory Griffith and Francis Isabel (Marr) Griffith, she spent her formative years growing up in Klamath with her brother Tommy and sister Eleanor.
She married Lester Dietz in 1961 in Klamath and gave birth to Duane
and Duanne before moving to Los Angeles in 1964, where she later gave
birth to Chris and Robert. The family moved to Seattle in 1969 where she
lived a homemaker’s life. In 1976, she joined Pacific Northwest Bell
telephone company and retired as a personnel supervisor in 1996. She
divorced in 1982, moved to Deer Park, Wash., and was married to Ken
Rummel for several years before divorcing again. She returned to Klamath
and was working with her niece Peggy as manager of Robin’s Nest Antique
Store in Crescent City when she fell ill.
Maggi led an ordinary life but found true joy in helping those in
need. She was an avid supporter of Muscular Dystrophy Foundation’s
telethons, American Cancer Society, and those people whose lives she
touched at the antique store. She was an avid craftsperson enjoyed
playing card games and solving jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her four children: sons Duane, Chris and Robert
and daughter Duanne; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren;
her sister Eleanor, nieces Kathy and Peggy, and nephew Brian.
At her request there will be no formal services. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
