Obituary: Maria Elvira Nunes Borges (Apr. 5, 1933 - Jan. 11, 2010)
Maria Elvira Nunes Borges, 76, passed away on January 11, 2010, in Crescent City. She was born on April 5, 1933, in Lajes Terceira, Azores. Maria was a 35-year resident of Del Norte County. She was a member of St Joseph Catholic Parish. Maria’s favorite times were spending time with her children, grandchildren and family. She inspired the heart of her grandchildren with her love, smile and touch. They all admired her beautiful blue eyes. She holds a special place in all of our hearts and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband Manuel N. Borges, Sr, daughter Zelia Maria Toste and her daughter Alicia Marie Toste-Lopez and her husband Angel. Son, Manuel Borges Jr and his wife Teresa and their son Michael Borges. Daughter, Fernanda Gonzalez and her children Brian, Brenda and Brittany Gonzalez. Daughter, Ana Borges-Bassett and her husband Danny and their children Kevin and Ryan Janeiro. Sisters Maria Ormonde and Idalina Pamplona and brother Joaquin Andrade. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, January 14 from 9 a.m. until Rosary services at 7:00 p.m. Christian Burial Mass will be on Friday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow services at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
