Obituary: Mary Lou Case (April 21, 1928 – May 1, 2012)

Mary Lou Case, 84, passed away on May 1, 2012, in Crescent City. She was born on April 21, 1928, in San Pedro, Calif. Mary Lou was a 64-year resident of Del Norte County.

Prior to her retirement, Mary Lou was employed for 35 years at the admissions desk at Seaside Hospital and Sutter Coast Hospital.

She was recognized for her distinguished volunteer service to  Navy and Army troops through the YMCA, USO in San Pedro.

Mary Lou was a seamstress, gardener, and enjoyed cooking; she was always in her kitchen. A very handy woman, as quoted by her daughter,  if it needed fixings, Mom could do it.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years,  Norman Case of Crescent City,  daughters Sidney and husband Sam McDonald; Gail Stafford, and Bonnie and husband Billy Newport all of Crescent City.

Granddaughters Ramie and husband Brian Hartman of Reno, Nev., and Billie-jo Newport of Crescent City.  Great-grandchildren Ryan Hartman, Michael Hartman and Ashly Hartman all of Reno, Nev.

At Mary Lou’s request no services will be held. Private interment will take place at the Del Norte County Veteran’s Cemetery.

The family requests contributions be made to Sutter Home Care, 983 3rd Street, Crescent City, CA  95531

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
