Mavis Camille McAdams, later known as “Mickie Hill” and “Mom” to the rest of us, was born October 10, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., to Jack and Marie McAdams, and died at her home in Crescent City on December 29, 2013, with her family by her bedside.
Mickie married the love of her life Robert Earl Hill on May 1, 1949, in Las Vegas, Nev., and remained married until his death on June 3, 2003.
For a number of years they lived in Riverside, Calif., and raised their three children Robert, Melody, and Steven who survive her, as well as seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
During her career, Mickie worked as a checker for Vons Grocery Company, and later as a manager for Van De Kamp’s Bakeries. She was a proud member of the Retail Clerks (later United Food and Commerical Workers) Union Local 1167.
She was a loving and creative person, and will be dearly missed by her family.
“She lived. She loved. She died.”
