He was one of 11 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Marge, of 31 years; two sisters, Willie and Becky; three children, Deborah, David, and Ronald, son-in-law, Joe, and also numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mel and his wife moved to Klamath in 2007 and loved the area.
Mel liked to carve designs on walking canes and give them to family and friends.
He was in the Air Force for 23 years and retired from Travis AFB.
Services will be private.
He was well-liked by everyone and will be missed.
