Norman Andrew Case, born on August 13, 1924, was a life-long resident of Del Norte County. He passed away on April 14, 2013, at the age of 88.
His daughters write that they are so fortunate to have had a wonderful father in their lives for so many years. Norman was their rock – their hero in may ways. Their father would work very long days being a logger and on his days off he would be taking his three girls everywhere with him.
Norman taught his daughters to fish, hunt, how to do their chores and they learned a lot about gardening. He was known for his beautiful roses, which won him numerous first place ribbons at the Del Norte County Fair. Norman and his wife, Mary Lou were strong individuals and they passed that important lesson to their children.
He will always be remembered working in his rose garden, as a wonderful father and grandpa. Norman will live forever in his family’s hearts.
He is survived by his daughters and their spouses – Gail Stafford of Crescent City; Bonnie and Billy Newport of Crescent City and their daughter Billie-jo Newport; Sidney and her husband Sam McDonald of Brookings and their daughter and son-in-law Ramie and Brian Hartman of Reno.
Norman also leaves behind his great-grandchildren Ryan, Michael and Ashley Hartman; nephew Bob Case and niece Sue Detol.
Memorial graveside services will be held at the Del Norte County Veteran’s Cemetery on Monday, April 29, at 10 a.m.
