Pastor Samuel Joseph Cardy, born on February 26, 1920, in Belfast, NR Ireland, passed away on January 5, 2012, in Crescent City. After leaving Ireland, Samuel moved to Canada and later relocated to Crescent City, where he lived in Del Norte County for 33 years. Pastor Cardy was a minister and pastor for over 72 years. He served as pastor at the First Baptist Church in Crescent City and and could be seen on a local cable channel for 17 years as a community TV minister.
He is survived by his wife Jean, who he married on April 22, 1946, children Trevor and wife Jean Cardy of NR Ireland; Ron and partner Wayne Eberly of Calgary, Canada; Raymond and wife Karen Cardy of Smith River; Ian Cardy of Crescent City; sister Ella Close of Carrickfergus, NR Ireland; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two greatgreat-grandchildren.
Samuel was preceded in death by his daughter Val Stewart in January
2011.

Visitation will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Tuesday, Jan.
10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Fort Dick Bible Church on Wednesday,
Jan. 11, at 1 p.m. with interment to follow at the IOOF Memorial
Cemetery. Fellowship will follow at the Fort Dick Bible Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
