Patsy was born Jan. 9, 1961, in Santa Rosa, Calif. She went to school at Margaret Keating Elementary School, Crescent Elk Middle School and Del Norte High School. She was a member of the Lytton Band of Pomo Indians.
Patsy was small in stature but a giant in personality. When she was 2, she had surgery on her heart and stayed at the hospital in San Francisco. After that she began her outgoing and energetic presence.
She lived her life with gusto. At a very young age she was an outstanding berry picker and people came for miles to buy the best berries from the tiny little girl. In middle school, she founded her own club called the King Cobras that involved her sisters and cousins. The notorious club is still spoken of today. Patsy enjoyed lots of things like fishing and camping and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid fan of Elvis. Patsy grew up in a very large family with lots of siblings, friends and cousins. She married Edwin Wayne Bettega Jr., who preceded her in death, and they had four children.
Patsy Bettega was the daughter of Daniel T. (deceased) and Carol Joyce Steele; sister of Sharon Meija, Daniel Steele Jr., Janice Rodriguez, Bert Steele Sr., Nadine Steele (deceased), Jon Randolph Steele, Sandra Steele Salas (deceased), Deanna Steele; the mother of Natasha Steele, Edwin III, Tanaiah and Garold Bettega; the grandparent of Izaiah, Jazmine, Anyessa, Julius, Isabella and Darius.
She is also remembered by her dear friend and pastor, Darrelen Romero.
Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Steele Jr., Bert Steele Sr. and Jon Randolph Steele. Pallbearers are Lawrence Steele, Arnulfo Salas, Antonio Salas, Andrew Salas, Alejandro Salas and Romeo Steele.
Funeral will take place on June 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Wier’s Mortuary Chapel, with the interment at the IOOF Memorial Cemetery.
