Ray Francis Johnson, 98, died in Smith River on May 28. He was born to James and Jane Stover on February 12, 1909. He was a Del Norte resident for 35 years.
Johnson had been employed as a police officer for 20 years in Newport Beach. He was a lifelong member of Brookings B.P.O.E. (Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks) #1934.
He is survived by his children Margaret Anthony of Fullerton, Barbara Madden of Crescent City, Shirley Young of Smith River, and Georgia (Gary) Linss of Anaheim.
He is also survived by 18 grand-children, 52 great-grandchildren, and 32 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Johnson in 1998.
Memorial services will be held at the Brookings B.P.O.E. Lodge, 800 Elk Drive, Brookings, on June 9, at 11 a.m.
His inurnment will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Park in Costa Mesa.
Arrangements are under direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
