Rick loved to cook and worked at various restaurants in Humboldt County, including Ferndale and on the Hoopa Reservation. In 1996, Rick moved to Crescent City, where he became an avid fisherman and enjoyed crabbing. There he became a member of Loyal Order of Moose where he was very active for some years and later joined the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks where he spent much of his time volunteering at the bar and in the kitchen. Rick was awarded Elk of the Year for 2010-2011 and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
Rick is survived by his brother Robert Wiley and sisters Jacque Lynn, Jill Singletary and Sheri Hoeger along with three nieces and nine nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Ardine and Dorothy Elizabeth Wiley, and his brother Rocky Wiley.
A memorial celebration of Rick’s life will be held February 15, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Elks Lodge No. 1689 at 359 H St., Crescent City.
