Richard William Gawer, 71, died December 14, 2011, at his home.
Born April 1, 1940, in New York City to Herman and Evelyn Gawer, and one older brother, Herman Edwin Gawer, who preceded him in death. He grew up in New York but lived in Oregon, Washington and Minnesota. He and his wife Carolyn moved to Crescent City in August 1985 and remained here until his death.
Richard was a man who truly loved the Lord and let God guide him in
his daily life. He was a long-time resident of Crescent City and was the
pastor at the United Pentecostal Church (New Life Tabernacle).
Richard’s life would seem too short by many, but those who he touched
understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of
time in which he lived. His happy smile and kind word brought joy to
many; he enjoyed talking and being involved with those that he met.
His interests included family; which was most precious to him. He enjoyed counseling, flying, golfing and reading.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Gawer of 52 years, daughter
Colleen and husband, Ted Zivney, sons Randy and wife Nunzia Gawer, Ron
and wife Nina Gawer, Ed and Robin Gawer, and 14 grandchildren; MaLisa
and husband Brad Seymore, Daniel, Travis, Christina Zivney, Jeff Gawer,
Jennifer Martin, Stephani and “Sam” Gawer, Andrew, Aaron, Ryan, Jon,
Alex Gawer and Haydn Gawer. Also three great-grandchildren Alana, Amara,
Donovan.
