A lot of people don’t accomplish even half of what Robert Lloyd Long did in his lifetime. Robert was a true hero, peacekeeper and gentle soul. He served our country in the Navy and U.S. Army Oregon National Guard. Bob had worked for the Crescent City Police Department and served over 20 years with the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office. In his retirement he served as Chief of Police in the Oregon towns of Union, Gold Beach, Aumsville and Rogue River, also as Chief in Tulelake, Calif. Robert solved countless criminal cases and homicides while keeping us safe and protecting us for over 35 years in law enforcement. But more importantly, he was a phenomenal person who gave selflessly time and time again. His short battle with cancer only, once again, proved his bravery and love for those he cared most about.
Robert has peacefully left behind his children Amanda Fithian, Jonathan Long and Richard Long and his sisters Pam White and Sandra Morrison, his former wife Bonnie Long, along with his mother Jean Jordan.
