Obituary: Robert L. Sanders (Nov. 14, 1936 - Feb. 6, 2013)

Robert L. Sanders passed away on February 6, 2013, with his family by his side. Born Nov. 14, 1936, in Willits, Calif., he grew up and lived most of his life in Mendocino and Humboldt counties. In 1989, he moved to Crescent City. Robert worked hard his whole life. After getting out of the military, he opened a gas station in Anderson Valley. From there he moved on to work for CalTrans, where he retired after 32 years of employment. Robert loved hunting, guns, horses and most of all being with his family, friends and his dog Tracker.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janice, daughter Carlene, son Rodney and many more loved ones.

Surviving are his brother Bill and wife Betty Sanders; sister-in-law Beulah Gowdy; granddaughters April Woodman and husband Jake Jones; Annie and husband Cameron Ross; Vonnie Fakier; Charlotte Fakier; Rebecca Fakier; son-in-law Michael Fakier, great-grandchildren Chanda Jones, Kayla Hennesey, Katelyn Hennesey, Edward Jones, Isabella Hennesey, Talon, Ross, Sofia Carabelas, numerous nieces, nephews and friends that were very dear to him.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 16, at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Boonville, Calif.
