Sandy Nightingale passed from this world after a long, hard battle with cancer. She spent her entire life helping and inspiring other people. As the oldest child she helped raise and support her two sisters, Kathleen and Maria, as well as her brother Leslie. She took care of her mother Helen and her Finnish grandmother or MuMu. Then she spent over 30 years helping students with disabilities at College of the Redwoods.
Sandy liked to hike, Jazzercize, garden and read, but her greatest
joy in life was giving birth and raising two wonderful, beautiful,
intelligent daughters, Marguerite and Catherine. Sandy was happy to see
her girls marry caring, devoted men, Robert Wilson and Jason Schmurr.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 42 years, Terry, as well as by
her two daughters and their spouses, her father Leslie O. Williams, her
sisters, and her brother. She will be missed by her United Methodist
Church family, Jazzercise buddies and all of the people she helped over
the years. She found comfort in her belief in Jesus Christ.
Sandy gave to Heifer International and Smile Train. Instead of
flowers, please donate to either of these charities. A celebration of
life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 29, at United Methodist
Church, Crescent City.
