Stanley Leonard Nuszkiewicz died May 19, 2007. in Crescent City.
He was born on Sept. 3, 1922 in Armstrong Creek, Wis., to Antone and Caroline (Smyrski) Nuszkiewicz.
Stan moved here as a World War II vet in 1954. He had served as a Navy Pilot.
After briefly working in the timber industry, he worked for 29 years as a State Farm Insurance agent, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, where he held positions of Grand Knight and 4th degree Knight.
He also acted for more than 20 years as president of St. Vincent de Paul. In addition he was president and member of Runeberg Lodge in Crescent City and also belonged to the Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Nuszkiewicz of Crescent City; his children, Tom Nuszkiewicz, Linda Langlois and Jerry Nuszkiewicz of Crescent City, Karen Inokuchi of El Dorado Hills, Gail Hemmingsen of Chico, Robert Nuszkiewicz of Couer d' Alene, Idaho, Diane Clausen of Portland, Ore., and Denise Huff of Roseville; and his brother, Antone "Tony" Nuszkiewicz of Green Bay, Wis.
He is also survived by grandchildren Michelle Blum, Timothy and Jon Nuszkiewicz, Jim, Steve and Bill Langlois, Trisha Davenport, Alisa, Douglas and Gary Hemmingsen, Christopher and Tony Nuszkiewicz, Chad and Jillian Clausen, Megan and Weston Huff, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings John, Walter, Joseph, Mary and Caroline.
A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Wier's Mortuary Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with private interment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Fellowship for family and friends will be held at St. Joseph Parish Hall immediately following services.
The family requests contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic School, 430 3rd. St., Crescent City, Calif., 95531, in Stan's memory.
