Obituary: Sylvester Stanford (Mar. 16, 1938 – Oct. 26, 2011)

Sylvester Stanford passed away unexpectedly October 26, 2011. He was born March 16, 1938, in Rayville, La.

Sylvester is survived by his wife Paula, sons Mike (Valerie) Stanford and Nelson (Susie) Stanford, all of Los Angeles; daughter Christy Sanford of North Pole, Alaska; Rita Stanford of Los Angles. Nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Sisters Avis Huffman of Crescent City; and Becky (Don) Hodges of Brookings, Ore.; brother-in-law and best friend Buddy Griffin of Chiloquin, Ore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sylvester’s memory may be made to Cal Farley, Boys Town National Headquarters, PO Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010.

Celebration of Life services will be at the Masonic Lodge, 250 9th Street, Crescent City, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2011. The remembrance will begin at 3 p.m., please bring in your favorite memory.

A potluck will follow at 4

p.m., your favorite dish for the potluck will be greatly appreciated.
