Troy “Ian” Kuykendall (July 7, 1973 - April 6, 2009)
Troy “Ian” Kuykendall, died April 6th 2009. Born July 7th 1973 in Taft, California to Troy C. Kuykendall and Paula Gayle Kuykendall. “Ian” was the middle child of three. Ian was raised in Maricopa, California.
He proudly served the California Department of Corrections and rehabilitation for 12 years at various facilities. After his retirement, he and his family relocated to Del Norte County 2 years ago.
Ian enjoyed his volunteering at Headstart Northcoast program. He was highly involved with the Headstart and Smith River School children’s activities. Ian was transforming into an avid outdoorsman, and very excited to be taught to ocean fish by his brother-in-law Hoyt. Ian was devoted to his family and friends alike.
Ian is survived by his wife Stephanie and their five children; Kayden, Troy Ethan, Ian James, Kalin and Elizabeth. His Mother and Father: Paula Gayle and Troy C. Kuykendall from Crescent City. His sister: Jody Walker, and nephews: Andrew and Tanner Walker from Crescent City. His Brother: Ben and his wife Lori Kuykendall and nephews Joshua and nieces Rebecca and Macayla from Fresno. His Mother and Father in Law Daniel and Judy Kardinal from Taft and His Sister-in Law April Kardinal and nephews Daniel Hacker and Drake Jones from Crescent City. His lifetime friends including but not limited to, Chris and Monique Martin From Modesto, Mark and Carolyn Gollaher from Taft. Almost everyone that Ian had met was touched by his personality, compassion and his devotion to his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10th from Noon until 5:00 PM at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Foursquare Gospel Church at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Smith River District Cemetery in Smith River.
Family and friends are invited for fellowship at the Smith River Baptist Church, Highland & Hwy 101 North following graveside services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City, CA.
