Verna V. Williams was born on December 24, 1926, at Griffin Creek Ranch in Medford, Ore. She passed away on August 12, 2009, in Crescent City. She moved to Fort Dick in 1943 to help on the Bailey rancho owned by her aunt and uncle.

Verna met Roy J. Williams and they were married in 1945 in Reno, Nev. They lived in Hilt, Calif., until 1947 when they moved to Klamath. In 1975, they moved to Crescent City.

Verna was a cook at the Crescent City Convalescent Hospital for many years and retired in 1993.

She was an exceptional cook, baker and loved gardening and yard work.

Verna truly loved animals and always had many dogs and cats she loved to spoil.

She was probably the most proud and devoted mother and grandmother there could be.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband in 1975 and her two brothers, Ralph Guches and Richard Guches.

She is survived by her brothers, Charles Guches and his wife, Beverly of Applegate, Ore. and Melvin Guches and his wife, Carol of Selma, Ore.; her son, Roy John Williams and his wife, Judith of Crescent City; daughter, Debbie Williams-Moore and her husband, Patrick of Redding; nephew, Vernan Roy Guches and his wife, Tara of Applegate, Ore.; five grandchildren, Mandy Desiree Williams-Creed and husband, Joshua of Crescent City; Patrick Moore Jr. of San Luis Obispo; Wendy Moore of Redondo Beach; Julie Bullock and her husband, Matt of Shingletown; and Jason of Prineville, Ore.

Verna also has five great- grandchildren, Brittani; Troy; Trinity; Savannah; and Charlie. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

At Verna’s request no services will be held. The family requests memorials or contributions be made to Crescent City Nursing & Rehab. at 1280 Marshall Street, Crescent City, CA 95531 or to the Humane Society of Del Norte, 821 Elk Valley Road, Crescent City, CA 95531
