Virginia “Ginger” Ellen Ridens, 72, passed away on Dec. 16, 2008, in Crescent City. She was born on Oct. 7, 1936, in Emmit, Idaho. Ginger was a 50-year resident of Del Norte County.
She attended local schools in Boise, Idaho. Ginger was a member of the Eastern Star and Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed decorating and crafts.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, R. Stanley Ridens of Crescent City.
Survivors include her children: Jack Thomas of Marysville, Wash.; Teresa Copeland of Sacramento; Ray Kent of Crescent City; Tracy Grosshans of Thorton, Colo.; Lorraine Smith of Portland, Ore.; Stanley Ridens of Woodburn, Ore.
She is survived by brothers Ronnie McMillan of Boise, Idaho; Danny McMillan of Nampa, Idaho; Tom Silvey of Crescent City.
She is also survived by grandchildren Shane Scott; Jackie Thomas, Brandon Calkins, Warren Kent, Anna & Zackary Smith, Delanee, Camryn, Kendil Grosshans, and great-grandson Preston Aaron Scott.
She was preceded in death by her father Howard McMillan, mother Dorthy Hughes, sister Julie Corum, brother Darryl Silvey and son Brad Thumler.
Memorial services will be held at the Masonic Lodge, 250 9th Street, Crescent City, on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.
