Obituary: Walter "Roy" Klein (Dec. 29, 1936 - Jan. 02, 2010)
Walter "Roy" Klein, 73, passed away Jan. 2, 2010, in Crescent City. He has born Dec. 29, 1936, in Peru, Ill. Roy had been a Del Norte County resident for the past 41 years. He was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge # 1689, Del Norte Amateur Radio Club and a life member of the NRA. Roy loved to spend time at home especially in his garden, when not in his garden you could find him hunting, camping or at Hyatt Lake fishing. Roy served his country for three years in the Navy touring through Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong and Hawaii.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn Klein of Crescent City; son Timothy Klein of Gold Hill, Ore., daughter Tami Lallo of Medford, Ore.; grandchildren Heather Friend and husband Levi, Whitnee Lallo, Nicholas Lallo and Madison Lallo; great grandchildren Trinity and Asher Friend. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel, Crescent City, California. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday January 6, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel, Crescent City. Interment to follow at the Del Norte County Veteran’s Cemetery, Crescent City. Family and friends are invited for fellowhsip following services at the Crescent City Elks Lodge. The family requests contributions be made in Roy’s Memory to the BPOE Elks Lodge # 1689 Scholarship Fund, PO Box 596, Crescent City, CA. 95531. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
