Obituaries: Eleanor P. Watson (Oct. 1, 1940 – Feb. 7, 2011)

Right after the Super Bowl last Sunday a soldier was given her discharge papers and sent home. No, she wasn’t in Iraq, she was stationed right here in Crescent City. Her favorite scripture was found in II Tim. 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Once in a while we have seen her fight some battles that seemed hopeless and win them because of her faith. Her last battle was fought over leaving those she loved here in Crescent City. She lost it but only because Jesus won it and after all, “The battle belongs to the Lord.”

Eleanor P. Watson went to be with the Lord, Feb. 7, 2011. She was born Oct. 1, 1940, in Cohassett, Mass., and spent 50 years of her life as a praying servant of Jesus and her family. Surviving are her son, James of Gold Beach, Ore., her daughter April, two grandchildren, husband, Ray of Crescent City and her church family.

The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the New Life Community Church, 424 2nd St., Crescent City, with Pastor Larry Read officiating.
