Obituary: Virginia Jane (Olsen) Miner (Sept. 1, 1927 – Oct. 26, 2010)

Virginia Jane (Olsen) Miner died Oct 26, 2010. She was born Sept. 1, 1927 in Hartington, Neb., to Svend and Gertrude Olsen. She married Edward Dean Kingsley Miner on Feb. 17, 1945. They were married for 53 years before he preceded her in death on July 6, 1998

Virginia raised seven children and worked for many years as a lab assistant at Cutter Laboratory in Berkeley. Virginia was constantly knitting and crocheting. She made countless, slippers, scarves, hats and crocheted tablecloths for family and friends.   Virginia and Edward Miner moved to Smith River in 1987, where they lived at Rowdy Creek Trailer Park, which is owned by their son-in-law Don Frosini.

Frank “Sonny” Thomas
Born March 1937 in Boise, Idaho, to Francis and Nina Thomas. Moved to Klamath,  at the age of 6 in 1943. Grew up with a respect of the great outdoors, developing a strong passion for fishing and hunting. Frank served his country in the Army. Frank worked in the timber industry including Horse Logging for Simonson Lumber Company for 10 years.

Obituaries: Arnold Lee Stone (Mar. 29, 1934 – Oct. 17, 2010)

Arnold Lee Stone passed away of natural causes in the CCNR Center, in Crescent City, October 17, 2010.

He was born on March 29, 1934, in Taos, N.M. Arnold traveled about to different locations in construction. He was a heavy equipment operator in his father’s business for 27 years. Although he lost the use of his right arm in a construction accident, he persevered and excelled in all his endeavors thereafter. As a radio operator, he was given a Public Service Commendation Award for his efforts in helping the Crescent City Coast Guard aid vessels in distress. Arnold was a licensed amateur radio operator, KE6QOS.
