Patricia A. Dyer (Sept. 27,1944-Apr. 17, 2010)

Patricia A. Dyer
Patricia Anne Dyer passed away early Saturday morning on April 17, 2010. Her death was related to Parkinson's disease. Pat was diagnosed nearly 25 years ago. She was 65 years old. 

While working at a drive-in she met Albert Dyer and they married October 5, 1963. Pat and Al moved to Crescent City where they raised their two daughters. Pat and Al shared a deep mutual love and admiration for one another. They remained extremly devoted to each other up until Al's passing June 22, 2006. 

While living in Del Norte County, Pat spent her time deeply involved in her community. She was very passionate about education, including traveling to lobby for improvements for special needs classrooms. She served as president of the Del Norte County School Board and president of the PTA. She coached cheerleading at Crescent Elk as well as chairing many commitees with 4-H and organized numerous events.

Gladys Burns Hue (nee Hall) (1915 - 2010)

Gladys Bure Hue (nee Hall) passed away peacefully at Sutter Coast Hospital.  A fifty-six year resident of Del Norte County, she had a successful career as a school teacher, working in both elementary and secondary education. She taught Speech and led the public speaking and debate teams at DNHS until 1968.  She worked for the DN Unified School District as a speech therapist and speech pathologist. She still maintained contact with many of her former students, who referred to her as their “favorite teacher.”

Loving mother of three: Jeff Pickford, James Pickford and Judith Stameroff.  Grandmother of four grandsons; great-grandmother of two great granddaughters.

Michael Fraser (Oct. 23, 1946 - May 12, 2010)

Michael A. Fraser, 63, of Oroville, California died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born October 23, 1946, in Eureka to Robert and Marge Fraser, Mike was a 1964 graduate of Fortuna Union High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964-1971 and attained the rank of sergeant. Known as “RV Mike,” he was no stranger to excitement. He was a rodeo clown, a bull rider, a matador in Spain, an avid hunter, fisherman, NASCAR fan and a genuine cowboy. 

Robert R Ballard (Nov. 03, 1954 - May 13, 2010)

Robert “Bob” Ballard passed away Thursday May 13, 2010, in his home with his wife and sister at his side. Bob loved working here in Crescent City.

Glenn William Langston (Aug. 19, 1964 - May 13, 2010)

Glenn William Langston, 45, passed away on May 13, 2010, in Crescent City. He was born on August 19, 1964, in Bakersfield. He was an 8 year resident of Curry County making his home in Brookings.

Known at  Good Samaritan Society-Curry Village for being a friendly and easy-going resident,  Glenn said, “It is faith in God that has made me a cheerful and accepting person.”

Glenn moved to Good Samaritan Society-Curry Village in February 2003, and has been an inspiration to the staff and other residents.  Music has been an important part of his life.  He showed a talent for music when he began to play the violin in fourth grade.  Glenn played in the school orchestra and through junior high he was first chair violin. He also played in the band in junior high.  First he played oboe, then switched to cornet.

Obituary: James Thomas Waggle (June 27, 1939 - May 10, 2010)

James Thomas Waggle passed away on May 10, 2010.  He was born to John Logan Waggle and Verda Beatrice on June 27, 1939.  He was a life long resident of Crescent City.  In his younger years, he worked at the local mills and in road construction. 

His hobbies included working on vehicles. He could take an engine apart and put it back together better than new.  His true passion was stock car racing and winning those trophies with car #7.

Obituaries: Margret Helen Hammers (June 06, 1924 - Mar. 22, 2010 )

Margret Helen Hammers
Margret passed away on March 22, 2010 she was 85 years old. She passed away very quietly at Lincoln Manor in Lincoln, Calif., her family by her side.

Margret was born in Red Banks, New  Jersey and moved to Northern California 50 years ago. Margret and her family lived in Crescent  City. Margret worked in the local fisheries for over 20 years. Margret moved to Roseville, Ca. with her daughter Evelynn Riggs and son-in-law Curtis Riggs about 15 years ago. Margret called Crescent City home and came home often.
