Raymond Daniel Rakestraw Jr.
 Raymond Daniel Rakestraw Jr. was born on March 8, 1933, in Chrome, Calif. He was the oldest of five children who worked dairy farming with their parents in the Sacramento Valley. Dan’s family moved to Ferndale in 1950 and continued working for dairy farms.

Michael Joseph Scavuzzo
 Michael Joseph Scavuzzo, 80, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2014, at his home in Crescent City. Mike was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Hammonton, N.J. to Mario and Jennie Scavuzzo. He was an avid athlete while growing up. Mike married the love of his life, Martha Kekry, on Dec. 5, 1954.

 Eve Robin Moore went home to be with the Lord on April 27, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 12, 1956, in Englewood Calif., on Mother’s Day. Raised and schooled in Crescent City, one of her greatest pleasures was washing the windows at Battery Point Lighthouse. She married Larrie Moore on June 6, 1974. During their 40-year marriage they raised three children in Fort Worth, Texas, before relocating back to Crescent City. While in Crescent City, she managed a series of apartment complexes. Her kind, loving and gentle spirit was a magnet to many of the tenants’ children, who called her “grandma.” Her favorite days of the week were church on Sunday and “sister-hood” on Wednesday afternoon. 


Obituary: Thean Burke (Sept. 5, 1944 - April 8, 2014)

Thean Burke was born on Sept. 5, 1944. An only child to Skip and Ned Anderson.  She was married in 1966 to Howard W. Burke. She had a child in 1968, who lived from 1968 to 1981. She shared her household with Sarah Burke and other members of the family due to disability. She was a strong woman who was loved very much. She will be missed greatly.

Mark passed peacefully from this earthly life to Eternal Life with his Heavenly Father on April 28, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., with his wife Sharon, niece Maureen and friend Judy Del Ponte at his bedside at 83 years of age.

Lynn English was born in 1936, a third-generation San Franciscan of Irish descent. He was educated at the University of San Francisco, putting himself through school by working days as a printer. He was drafted into the army for two years.
