Clausen
Floyd attended Foursquare Church and has been a member of Warriors Bench, Kiwanis, Sutter Coast Hospital Auxilliary and Crescent Harbor Art Gallery. He married Barbara Jean Woodland on February 21, 1954 in Clark, S.D. Floyd enlisted in the Air Force the day after high school and was a career serviceman of 20 years. He was stationed all over the United States as well as a tour in Korea, two tours to Vietnam and a tour in Madrid, Spain. He retired to Crescent City in 1972 and worked for Simonson Lumber Mill for 10 years as a welder. When that job closed down, he went to school to become a barber and had his own shop for 10 years. After retiring, he and Barbara traveled for many years, either in a fifth wheel or on the train. Many of the trips included some of the grandchildren.

Floyd’s hobbies included fishing and anything outdoors, but his true passion was sports. He was a football fan but also enjoyed basketball, baseball and others. He found a way to remain active with sports through actively working with Pop Warner, Warrior Bench or any other place where the students were participating. He attended most games and most practices of most of the sports at Del Norte High School. Many times he was given a jersey, a signed ball, a clock, a certificate or something else in appreciation for his time and advice. Many of the athletes still communicated with him after their graduations. He helped Chuck Blackburn announce games for many years. After he no longer was able to help, he would still attend and cheer on his beloved Warriors. He truly had a special place in his heart for the kids and the staff and the entire athletic program.
