 James Walter Lemley James Walter Lemley passed away on May 19, 2011, in Medford, Ore. He was born on Sept. 2, 1937, in Vancouver, Wash. James moved to Del Norte County in 1953 where he met his wife of 55 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a lumber grader.
James loved the lord and was a witness to many. Through foster care, he touched the lives of many. There will be a great void in the lives he touched. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He belonged to the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church.
He was an avid fisherman who loved to fish both the ocean and river.

Helen Wameda Miller passed away on May 16, 2011, in Medford, Ore., at the age of 76. Born Valentines Day, February 14, 1935, to Virgil and Helen Miller in Pine, Ariz. She was a 30-year resident of Crescent City.
Wameda worked as a waitress and secretary for Redwood United in Eureka, Calif. She enjoyed playing cribbage, picnics and family gatherings.
Wameda is survived by her children, Kenneth Custer of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Sidney Custer (Terri) of Crescent City; Sabrina Custer of Tooele, Utah; Robert Wansick of Eureka, Calif.; her brother Valdon Miller (Marion); sister Sylvia Landt (Bill). Six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

 Warren Dixon Glover Warren Dixon Glover, 77, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on June 11, 2011, in Crescent City. He was born on July 7, 1933, in Jefferson City, Mo. Warren was a 34-year resident of Del Norte County. As a Navy veteran, he honorably served his country for four years.
He was a hard worker all of his life who enjoyed the outdoors, cutting wood and enjoying fishing. Warren loved to spend time with his family and entertain, especially having barbecues. He will be remembered as having a big heart and as a very compassionate person who always was helping people when possible. Despite his condition he kept a positive attitude and was a true gentleman to the very end.

 Patricia Karen Blagden Patricia Karen Blagden, 60, of Brookings, died June 9, 2011, at Curry Good Samaritan Center, in Brookings, of cancer.
She was born Dec. 21, 1950, at Seaside Hospital in Crescent City, to William W. “Bill” Woods and Katherine M. “Obie” Layman Woods.
A lifelong resident of Del Norte and Curry counties, Karen attended school in Smith River, and graduated from Del Norte High School in 1969.

 Reed E. Stout Reed E. Stout passed away in Crescent City on June 8, 2011. He was 90.
Reed was born May 25, 1921, in Derry, Penn., to William and Sarah (Shearer) Stout. He grew up there. Reed entered the 28th Division of the Pennsylvania National Guard as soon as he could and served until being called up to active duty with the U.S. Army at the outset of WWII. He served two enlistments for more than five years when he was discharged at the rank of Private on Nov. 6, 1946.

 Dale A. Eicher Dale A. Eichar of Crescent City, passed away on May 29, 2011, in Yuma, Ariz., less than three months shy of his 90th birthday.
Dale was born in Burbank, Calif., on August 12, 1921. He served in the Army and was stationed in the South Pacific for four years during World War II. Shortly after being honorably discharged from the Army, he moved with his wife, Dorothy, to Northern California. In 1963 he and his family moved from Eureka to Crescent City where Dale was employed as superintendent of the Miller Rellim Redwood sawmill for 25 years.

Blanche Lillian Balder, 93, of Crescent City, died on Saturday, June 4, 2011, in Brookings, Ore. She was born on February 20, 1918 in Watsonville, Calif. After her retirement from the State of California, she and her loving husband of 38 years, Vern, who preceded her in death, traveled extensively across the United States. She always had a smile on her face, and brought joy to everyone she was around. Blanche was a wonderful fun person and enjoyed her life to the fullest. She was a member of the Pelican Bay Evangelical Free Church.
She was the beloved mother of Darlene Sanchez of Crescent City, and Patsy Myaer of Jacksonville, Fla. She had six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Patricia Anne Barrett, of Crescent City, passed away on May 20, 2011.
She was born Feb. 15, 1932, to Hurbert R. Hirsh and Mildred Anne Lamphron in New Jersey.
Patricia Anne Hirsh graduated college with a BA in Accounting. She married Bill Barrett and lived her life as a wife and mother, always surrounded by family. She loved to make hooked rugs and work with beads. She lived in Crescent City for 12 ½ years.
