Jeannie grew up in Crescent City, attended Crescent Elk Elementary and graduated from Del Norte High School. She was involved in many activities including cheerleading, Drill Team, Student Council and was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.
Jeannie worked at the Del Norte Triplicate for seven years and at the Chamber of Commerce for several years. After relocating to Los Angeles, she worked for Bank of America for 20 years. She continued her career with Union Bank.
She enjoyed houseboating on Lake Shasta, traveling to Mexico and spending every Fourth of July in Crescent City.
She will be remembered by her friends and family for her fun-loving spirit and sparkling personality.
Jeannie is survived by her son Jason Evans, her daughter M’Lissa Kurtz, her grandchildren Shane and Kennedy Kurtz and Jazmin Jennings (Evans); siblings Don McHargue, Rick Rowden and Sue Costa. She is also survived by the Class of ‘64, Del Norte High.
Please join us in a celebration of Jeannie’s life to be held Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the home of Patrick and Rose Wilson, 110 Stephanie Lane, Fort Dick.
In lieu of flowers, Jeannie would ask that you offer up a toast with a friend in her honor over a margarita.

Russell Wayne Larson was born June 16, 1945, in San Francisco and passed away July 28, 2012, surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his sisters Bonnie Culdice and Janet Larson, brother-in-law Bill Hughes, sister-in-law Amy Larson, nephews Joseph Culdice and Zachary Larson, and nieces Christine Larson and Heather Larson. His brother Stephen Larson recently passed away February 5, 2012.
Russell devoted his life as a psychologist to counseling war veterans and teaching English and Psychology at the University. He was also very active in the Carmelite community. His passion was his sail boat.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 440 Third St., Crescent City, August 8, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at the Del Norte County Veterans Cemetery.

Arthur “Art” Alfred Davey was born in Hollywood, Calif., on November 16, 1931, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife of 50 years, Joan K. Davey (née Hamlin) and the rest of his family after a long illness in Roseville, Calif., on July 27, 2012.
Art retired from the U.S. Marine Corps. in 1973 after 30 years of dedicated service and continued his dedication in the Marine Corps League, which donates funds and assistance to active and former marines, their widows and orphans. He also enjoyed donating his time and assistance to Toys for Tots, fishing, Judo and most of all spending time with his family. Art’s generous spirit will be greatly missed by those he touched throughout his life, but never more so than by his loving families.

Eugene “Doc” Henderson Wilson was born July 18, 1935, to Harlan R. Wilson and Opal Lucille Henderson Wilson in Oklahoma City, Okla. He entered into rest July 29, 2012.
Eugene attended Harrah High School in Oklahoma, where he excelled in basketball, football and track. He then attended Oklahoma University in Norman, Okla., for two years. After college Eugene entered the USAF and attended pilot training at Randolf Air Force Base in Texas. He served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1963. Eugene met his wife Georgia Ann Hall, a nurse who was also in the Air Force. They married in 1961.
Eugene worked as an editor for an Oklahoma magazine for many years and in 1965 moved his family to Southern California. There he worked as a technical writer and later worked in the auto industry.

• Eugene Henderson Wilson, 77, died July 29, 2012, in Crescent City. He was born July 18, 1935, in Oklahoma City, and was a 12-year resident of Del Norte County.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel. Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Del Norte County Veteran’s Cemetery. Arrangements by Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.

Jessie Oleva (“Ollie”) Clausen of Fortuna, California, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in Fortuna Rehabilitation & Wellness Center after a short illness. She was 93 and a great-grandmother.
Born in Mansfield, Douglas County, Washington, October 10, 1918, to Nicholas and Belle Ross Piper, Ollie was the wife of former U.S. Congressman Don H. Clausen (R-CA), and a longtime resident of Crescent City. In the Washington, D.C., area, she lived with her husband in Takoma Park, Md., and Springfield, Va., before returning to California, where the couple lived in Santa Rosa after Don was retired from Congress. In April 2012, they moved to Sequoia Springs Assisted Living and Retirement Community in Fortuna.

Jessie graduated from Del Norte High School in 2007. She was passionate about photography, animals, music, art and most of all the people she loved. She was fiercely loyal. In many ways, Jessie was fearless and often terrified her parents, but she was so sweet, loving, kind and funny that you could not help but love her. She had an innate talent for social work and a colorful use of the English language.

Susan Janette Ottersbach, 48, passed away on July 25, 2012, at Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City. She was born on May 20, 1964, at Gardena Memorial Hospital in Gardena, Calif. Susan was one of two daughters from parents Marvin and Janette McClaren. She graduated from high school with the class of 1982 at Huntington Beach High in Huntington Beach, Calif. After her marriage in 1986 she had two boys and traveled all around California due to her husband’s job, finally settling down in Crescent City in the summer of 1997. She worked various jobs from 1997 to 2011 ranging from food service to convalescent care. More than anything, she loved her two boys and watching them succeed was the biggest joy of her life.
