Obituaries: Waltina Lee Beedle (Jan. 20, 1951 – Feb. 26, 2011)

Read more...Waltina Lee Beedle, longtime resident of Crescent City, passed away on Sat. Feb. 26, 2011, with her daughter by her side.

Most knew her as Tina Smith, lover of children, animals and elderly. Tina fought a losing battle against pancreatic cancer but always had a positive attitude and fought hard to stay alive.

Read more...Carmen Valenzuela, 93, was escorted to heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday March 26, as He called her by name.

Carmen was born in Madera, Calif., as the “baby” of a family of eight. After marrying she raised her family in Pittsburg, Calif. She worked for many years as a waitress, then went on to own her own janitorial business. She moved to Sacramento, Calif., and lived there for many years and raised her four grandchildren and also raised two of her great-great-grandchildren.

Carmen was a great cook and a loving person who touched the lives of many. She invested herself in the lives of many children.

Obituaries: Johnnie Young (May 2, 1952 – Mar. 23, 2011)

Johnnie Young died March 23, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. A lifelong resident, he was born in Crescent City, on May 2, 1952, to John C. and Lois A. Young. He attended Pine Grove School, Crescent Elk and graduated from Del Norte High School in 1970.

Johnnie had various jobs, some of which were at Standard Veneer Mill, Ziegler Logging, Home Water Systems, Crescent Electric and as a rental manager.

He was also a volunteer firefighter with Crescent Fire Protection for about 10 years and a charter member of the Moose Lodge of Crescent City.

Obituaries: Lora Dunham (March 16, 1923 – Mar. 22, 2011)

Read more...Lora Dunham, 88, went home to Jesus on March 22, 2011. Lora was born in Waldport, Ore., and moved from West Virginia to Eureka with her husband Ray in 1946 and on to Crescent City in 1955. She was a homemaker throughout her life raising three children, but also helped maintain her husband’s fishing business.

Lora was a woman of the Lord and a member of the Foursquare Church. She lived her life to the fullest with her memories of traveling the world with her husband, playing the piano at church and spending time with her family.

Lora’s greatest love and joy was her family. Attending grandchildren’s sporting events and family gatherings were frequent pleasures in her life. She also gave a lot of time caretaking for ill family members. She always showed amazing generosity and compassion for her loved ones. Though Lora experienced many tragedies in her life, she continually passed on her eternal faith in Jesus. Lora’s spirit will continue on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be dearly missed, but she would want each of us to be comforted by the reminder that she is with her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Obituaries: Fawn Eloise Mildred Williams Morris (Sept. 2, 1929 – March 20, 2011)

Read more...Fawn Morris went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 20, 2011. She will be back home with her husband, C. Allan Morris, her son Michael L. Morris, along with numerous other family members who will all be there to greet and welcome her home.

Fawn Eloise Mildred Williams Morris was born to Harry and Ethel Williams on September 2, 1929, at the General Hospital in Eureka. She had five siblings, two sisters Dorothy and Vivian along with three brothers Chuck, Timm and Juke.

For many generations her family owned and operated Dad’s Camp at the mouth of the Klamath River, where she met many of her lifelong friends. The family then moved to Crescent City in 1943. Fawn attended local grade schools and was a 1947 graduate of Del Norte High School.

Obituaries:Herbert W. Wormsbaker (April 13, 1929 – March 12, 2011)

Herbert W. Wormsbaker was born on April 13, 1929, in Grenville, N.M. and passed away on March 12, 2011, in San Francisco at the Veterans Hospital at Fort Miley.

Herbert married Mary Joy Bell on Jan. 17, 1951, and they had 60 years of love and commitment. He was a hairdresser for 20 years, working with his wife in their own shop in Santa Ana, Calif., where they raised their children. He was a retired steam engineer from Disneyland, Anaheim, 1977. A Klamath Glen resident for over 30 years, he was a member in good standing with loyal order of the Elks, Crescent City. He volunteered for Klamath Senior Center, Klamath Fire Department and Klamath Community Center.
