Obituaries: Fawn Eloise Mildred Williams Morris (Sept. 2, 1929 – March 20, 2011)

Read more...Fawn Morris went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 20, 2011. She will be back home with her husband, C. Allan Morris, her son Michael L. Morris, along with numerous other family members who will all be there to greet and welcome her home.

Fawn Eloise Mildred Williams Morris was born to Harry and Ethel Williams on September 2, 1929, at the General Hospital in Eureka. She had five siblings, two sisters Dorothy and Vivian along with three brothers Chuck, Timm and Juke.

For many generations her family owned and operated Dad’s Camp at the mouth of the Klamath River, where she met many of her lifelong friends. The family then moved to Crescent City in 1943. Fawn attended local grade schools and was a 1947 graduate of Del Norte High School.

Obituaries:Herbert W. Wormsbaker (April 13, 1929 – March 12, 2011)

Herbert W. Wormsbaker was born on April 13, 1929, in Grenville, N.M. and passed away on March 12, 2011, in San Francisco at the Veterans Hospital at Fort Miley.

Herbert married Mary Joy Bell on Jan. 17, 1951, and they had 60 years of love and commitment. He was a hairdresser for 20 years, working with his wife in their own shop in Santa Ana, Calif., where they raised their children. He was a retired steam engineer from Disneyland, Anaheim, 1977. A Klamath Glen resident for over 30 years, he was a member in good standing with loyal order of the Elks, Crescent City. He volunteered for Klamath Senior Center, Klamath Fire Department and Klamath Community Center.


Obituaries: Thelma R. Whipple (Jan. 31, 1925 – March 20, 2011)

Read more...Thelma R. Whipple, born on January 31, 1925, in Del Norte County, passed away on March 20, 2011, in Smith River. She was born to Ed Richards Jr. and Alice Richards.

Thelma was an avid bingo player, enjoyed going to garage sales with her sister Phyllis, attending elder dinners, pow wows and family activities. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Thelma is survived by her children Valerie Ann Thompson (Jim) of Bayside, Gaylene Mendiola (Ray) and Toni Whipple, both of Crescent City, Sunnae Walker (Duane) and Kathy Whipple, both of Smith River, and Tracie Whipple of Crescent City.


Obituaries: Donna Lynn Haynes (March 3, 1947 – March 11, 2011)

Donna Lynn Haynes, 64, passed away on March 11, 2011, in Crescent City. She was born on March 3, 1947, in San Jose, Calif. Donna was a 55-year resident of Del Norte County.

Donna was employed as an office manger for Dr. Meyers, and enjoyed all the patients. She loved to play bingo and going to garage sales. Donna enjoyed making people laugh, she loved her friends and family and spending time with them.

She is survived by her sister Bonnie Peterson of Klamath, niece Lisa and husband Bob DeMasters of Santa Rosa, Calif., nephew Todd and wife Nicole Peterson of San Ramon, Calif., great-niece Mackenzie DeMasters, great-nephew Declan Peterson and numerous other relatives.

Obituaries: Dorothy A. Powell (Feb. 3, 1927 – Feb. 28, 2011)

Read more...Dorothy A. Powell was born on Feb. 3, 1927, in Eugene, Ore., and passed away on Feb. 28, 2011, in Crescent City. She spent the last six years at the Crescent City Nursing and Rehab suffering from dementia, “slowly fading away.”

Dorothy loved being around people. Her jobs included working at radio station KPLY, Endert’s Drug Store, U.S. Forest Service in Gasquet, teacher’s aide – grandparents program. Her hobbies included square dancing, league bowling, arts and crafts and she loved photography.

Dorothy had two close friends, she spoke highly of, Marilyn Owen and Pam Woods, with whom she liked to pal around with. Her neighbor “Chuck” was always on call. Thanks Chuck!

Obituaries: Helen Marie (Brannin) Tintle (July 14, 1916 – March 12, 2011)

Read more...Helen Marie (Brannin) Tintle, 94, died March 12, 2011, in Crescent City. She was born July 14, 1916, in Bulter, Morris County, New Jersey, the oldest of three children to Horace and Eva (Vreeland) Brannin.

She is survived by her children Carol Ann Molloy and husband Alan of Manifee, Calif., and Marlene Tintle Young and husband Michael of Crescent City. She is also survived by grandchildren, Cindy Paul (Becky and Katie) of Manifee, Calif., Scott Molloy (Rachel, Tiffany and Halie) of Golden Valley, Ariz., Jeffrey Anderson and wife Julie (Austin and Abigail) of McKinleyville, Bradley Anderson (Kallie) and Corinne Higgins and husband Kennith (Nick and Derek) of Crescent City.

She is also survived by her step-grandson Steven Young and wife Cindi of Crescent City, (Daniel from Colorado), JaCinda (Katherine and Sophia), Gregg  (Jacob and Michael).
