Obituary: Gwynna Marie Morris (Sep. 23 1946 – Sep. 02, 2010)

Gwynna Marie Morris
Wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, friend–Gwynna Marie Morris passed away peacefully at home September 2, 2010, surrounded by her husband David of 38 years, and her children Paul and Angela Morris, after a valiant battle with cancer. 

Born September 23, 1946, Gwynna was raised in Smith River with her six sisters and brother; she graduated from Del Norte High in 1964. During after-school hours, she worked in the family store where she no doubt gained a love of business. At Humboldt State University, Gwynna met her future husband David Morris, who was also a business major and they were married in November 1971. She graduated from HSU in 1973, earned her teacher's credential in 1974, and shortly after she and David moved to Fortuna.

Obituary: Wanda Sue (Gaddis) Winkelmann (Jul. 15, 1955 – Aug. 26, 2010)

Read more...Wanda Sue (Gaddis) Winkelmann, 55, passed away on August 26, 2010, after a short fight with cancer. She was surrounded by family when she passed. Wanda, a lifelong resident of Del Norte County, was born in Crescent City on July 15, 1955, to John & Peggy Gaddis. 

Wanda really loved the outdoors especially collecting agates on Pebble Beach and spending time with her family and friends.

Wanda is survived by her mother Peggy Gaddis of Central Point, Ore.; her husband of 22 years, Jeffrey Winkelmann; her five children: Melissa Golden, Terry Ortman, Jennifer Ortman & Zachary Winkelmann all of Crescent City and Heidi Perkins of Medford, Ore. Sons in law Garrick Hienz and Joseph Perkins Sr.,  and daughter in law Kathleen Winkelmann.

Obituary: Audrey Whittet Torgersen (Jul. 29 1929 – Aug. 15, 2010)

Audrey was born July 29, 1929, in Southern California to Marion (Spike) and Madge Whittet. She passed away in Casa Grande, Ariz., Aug. 15, 2010, surrounded by her family. Her youth was spent in Buena Park, Calif., and she moved with her family to Eureka in 1944. She graduated from Eureka High School in 1948.

Audrey married Larry Torgersen in 1949, and together they had five children, two daughters and three sons. In 1956 they moved from Eureka to Crescent City, where they owned and operated Larry Torgersen Ford until 1987.

Audrey was a talented painter and an energetic and eclectic gardener. She had a beautiful singing voice and tried her hand at golf, the guitar and anything else that offered a challenge. She was a regular at craft fairs with her doll clothes and tole painting, and she crocheted everything from snowflakes to Tabasco cozies.
