Jonathan was born here in Crescent City on April 14, 1986. Jonathan graduated from Del Norte High School in 2004, where he loved to play football.

After high school, Jonathan found that he loved to build. Jonathan was an artist with his hands and was a natural craftsman. If you walk through his mother’s home you will see many examples of his touch.

Obituaries: Ronald G. Olson (Sept. 18, 1942 – Feb. 12, 2011)

Read more...Ronald G. Olson began a new adventure with God at sunrise on Feb. 12, 2011, after a valiant struggle with cancer. At his side was his wife of 49 years and his two sons.

He was born in Longview, Wash., on the 18th of September, 1942. After the war, Ron’s family moved to Napa, Calif., in 1946.  He graduated from Napa High School in 1960, where he met, became engaged and on Dec. 3, 1961, married Wayneen, his high school sweetheart. Ron worked for many years in the Napa area at local grocery stores including Purity and Vallerga’s Markets. In 1985 Ron followed a life-long dream and traveled north to Klamath River, where Ron and his wife, Wayneen, purchased Quigley’s Store and RV Park. Ron welcomed all of his customers, new and old, with a warm smile. Quigley’s was sold in 2007 so that Ron could follow one more dream and build his house on the hill in Siskiyou County overlooking the Klamath River.


Obituaries: Jack Lee Snider (July 1, 1951 – Feb. 7, 2011)

Read more...Jack Lee Snider passed away on Feb. 7, in the company of his family, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jack was born July 1, 1951, in Branson, Mo. As a boy, he moved with his family to Sacramento, where he grew up. Shortly after graduating from Rio Linda Senior High School, Jack enlisted with the U.S. Navy and served with the 3rd Marine Divisions as a corpsman in Okinawa, Japan.

After the Navy, Jack earned his construction contractor’s license and even worked on the movie set of “Return of the Jedi.”

Obituaries: Debra “Debbie” Lynne (Stanovich) Palmer (Mar. 11, 1954 – Feb. 11, 2011)

Read more...Debbie passed away on Feb. 11, 2011, at her home in Crescent City at the age of 56. Born in Visalia, Calif., she grew up in Tuolumne City, Calif., prior to moving to Del Norte County in June of 1970. Debbie graduated from Del Norte High School, class of 1972.

Debbie worked as a dental assistant for Pelican Bay State Prison, as well as Dr. Roger Wakeman’s office. She loved the summertime and spending all her free time with her children and grandchildren in Kerby and Grants Pass, Ore. Debbie was a devoted mom, sister, daughter, aunt and grandma. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.


Obituaries: Susie Q. (Robison) Morris (May 24, 1961 – Feb. 6, 2011)

Read more...Susie Q. (Robison) Morris died on Feb. 6, 2011, in Medford, Ore. She was born on May 24, 1961, in Santa Monica and moved to Del Norte County in 1968. Susie was a graduate of Del Norte High School.

Susie married Allan Morris in 1983. She enjoyed people from all walks of life and worked at a variety of places, including House of Flowers, Endert’s Drug Store, Pacific Market, Ray’s Bakery, Better Health Plus, Discount Liquors, and Coast True Value.

Known for her flower arrangements, cake decorating, counted cross-stitch and tie-dye shirts, Susie was meticulous to detail. She loved growing up at Mill Creek State Park, riding her quad on the beach at Dad’s Camp and spending time with her canine “children.”

Susie always had a smile on her face, was enthusiastic about life, didn’t judge people and had a way to make you laugh and make your day better.
