Band camp concert is Friday
The North Coast Summer Band Camp, which is being held at Smith River School this year because of the remodeling at Crescent Elk Middle School, will give its grand finale concert at 7 p.m. Friday in the Smith River Gymnasium.
Students from Brookings, Smith River and Crescent City are honing their musical chops in preparation for a “Back to the Classics” performance. The staff this year includes John Webster, Dan Sedgwick, Greg Goode, Heather Clensay-Clark, Marshall Jones, Frank Allard and Amy Ross. Performed will be excerpts from “Fantasia” and Dvorak’s “New World Symphony,” as well as classic jazz pieces such as “Take 5” and Gershwin’s “Summertime” and classic rock ’n’ roll (“Barbara Ann” and “Brown-Eyed Girl”). The public is welcome and donations are appreciated.

This meeting is when the paid membership (those making a donation of $25 or more) votes on the rotation of three open seats each year on the board of directors. This meeting is a great way to have fun with LRT and have a voice within your community theater.
