Community concert scheduled Sunday
The Del Norte-Curry Community Concert Association presents its third performance of the season, tenor Franc D’Ambrosio, in a Sunday matinee at 3 p.m. Feb. 23 in Crescent Elk Auditorium.
D’Ambrosio is best known as the “World’s Longest Running Phantom” in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning musical “The Phantom of the Opera.” He will perform “I’ll Be Seein’ YOUZ ... A Bronx Boy’s Musical Perspective of World War II” featuring popular war songs from 1939-1946 and colorful stories from his Italian American family.

Harbor Gallery activities in Feb.
The artists of the month for February at Crescent Harbor Gallery are the “Monday Painters.” A sampling of their work is currently on display, along with pieces by other gallery members.
Crescent Harbor Gallery’s “fourth Thursday” art demo will be held at noon on Feb. 27, preceded by a potluck at 11:30 a.m., and will be given by artist Rosemary Garcia. She moved back to Crescent City after a full career in commercial graphics and painting murals in southern California. Her paintings can be seen in restaurants throughout Southern California, including Acapulco’s, El Torrito, Chevy’s and Marie Calendar’s. Chetco theater melodrama
The Chetco Pelican Player’s production of the comedy action romantic melodrama “The Clumsy Custard Horror Show” continues this weekend at the Chetco Playhouse, 1240 Chetco Avenue. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Students sought for summer art school
Applications are due Feb. 28 for the The California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) 2014 summer session, to be held July 12 to Aug. 8 at the campus of the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in Valencia. CSSSA is a four-week, intensive pre-college arts program for talented and motivated high school students enrolled in grades 9–12. Currently in its 28th year, CSSSA offers immersion in seven different disciplines: dance, music, theatre, visual arts, creative writing, film and animation.
Art in Public Places exhibit
The new Art in Public Places exhibit up in the Del Norte County Courthouse is “Inspired Imaginations” a one-person show by Brookings artist Tom Moody featuring 18 unique acrylic works. Moody won first place recently in DNACA’s Juried Multimedia Exhibition for his acrylic painting “Tropical Tranquility.”
