Auditions for Lighthouse Repertory Theatre’s summertime melodrama will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, 664 H St.

Chorale group performs May 1
Pacific Music Guild’s North Coast Chorale will hold its spring concert, “Broadway & Beyond,” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1 in Crescent Elk Auditorium.
The 65-voice choir is under the direction of Christie Lynn Rust, with accompaniment by Jill Dovre. This concert will showcase a variety of musical styles; the program includes “All Good Gifts” from the Broadway musical “Godspell,” the vocal jazz piece “Birdland,” a multicultural number “O Sifuni Mungu” from Africa, traditional spiritual “Ezekiel Saw the Wheel,” “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s my Brother,” and a wonderful choral medley from the recent Broadway musical “Wicked.”
Tickets are available at Del Norte Office Supply and the door for a donation of $5 per person; children 5 and younger get in free.
Orchestra performs Saturday-Monday
The Curry/Del Norte Orchestra will perform its springtime Symphony by the Sea from Saturday through Monday in three locations, including Gold Beach, Crescent City and Brookings, respectively.
The concert features violin soloist Jenna Barvitsky performing Mozart’s “Adagio in E Major,” and highlights from the orchestra will include “Ballet Egyptien” by Alexandre Luigini and the delightful “Carmen Symphony” by Georges Bizet.
The Crescent City performance is at 3 p.m. Saturday in the community room at Elk Valley Rancheria. Tickets cost $10 each for adults (students through grade 12 are admitted free), and are available at Del Norte Office Supply and the door.
‘Forum’ production ends this weekend
Chetco Pelican Players’ production of “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” concludes this weekend, with curtain times of 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. This multiple-Tony-award-winning musical farce, written by Burt Shevelove and “M*A*S*H” writer Larry Gelbart with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim , is now more than 50 years old and still hilarious.
Tickets cost $15 for adults, $6 for students, and are available at Wright’s Custom Framing and Chetco Pharmacy in Brookings, New Wave Video in Harbor and at the door. The Chetco Playhouse is located at 1240 Chetco Avenue; it’s the last building on the right as one drives north out of Brookings.
Art exhibit is up at the courthouse
The Art in Public Places exhibit up in the Del Norte County Courthouse is a one-person show titled “Student of Life” by painter Susan Moore, who won first place in DNACA’s 2012-13 annual juried show.
The courthouse is located at 450 H St. in Crescent City, and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends except for state holidays. For more information, call the Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness at 464-1336.
Robert Plant added to the Britt lineup
Britt Festivals has announced the addition to its concert lineup of “Robert Plant presents The Sensational Space Shifters,” on July 2.
Best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist for the legendary rock band Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest voices in rock music. He has also had a successful solo career.
Tickets for this concert are available to Britt members now. General public sales for this concert, along with the rest of the Britt season, begin Thursday, May 16, at 9 a.m. Tickets will be available from Britt’s website (brittfest.org) or by phone (541-773-6077 or 1-800-882-7488).
