Art Walk coming up Feb. 3The next “First Friday” Crescent City Art Walk will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3. Participating sites include Crescent Harbor Gallery, Johnston’s Gift, Garden & Home, Wendy's Hair Salon, Evermore Jewelry & Art Gallery, Vita Cucina, Wright’s Custom Framing, Edward Jones-Redwoods Mural Society, Made by US-Art 101 and Mary Dorman-State Farm Insurance, plus recycled art will be displayed at the Abienna Plaza (in the hallway of the building that houses Six Degrees of Celebration and Chere's Boutique). ‘Cupid and Psyche’ opens Feb. 3
The Chetco Pelican Players production of “Cupid & Psyche” opens Feb. 3 at the Chetco Playhouse and runs for three weekends. This romantic comedy adapted from an ancient Greek myth explores the double-edged sword of love and doubt, and has performances at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays. There will also be a special show at 7:30 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Tickets cost $12 for general and $6 for students, and are available at Chetco Pharmacy, New Wave Video and Wright’s Custom Framing in Brookings. Call for poets and writers
The College of the Redwoods, Eureka, campus is currently accepting submissions of original poetry and fiction from community members, as well as staff, faculty, and students for its literary magazine Poets & Writers. Submissions must be made electronically, must be typed and may consist of up to four pieces of work (whether poetry and/or fiction). Short stories or essays are limited to four pages double-spaced. You may submit up to two short stories or essays; prizes will be given (though not to faculty or staff of CR).
