LRT melodrama continues

Lighthouse Repertory Theatre’s  summer melodrama, titled “Return, Back to the Melodrama, The Trilogy or The End of Time, Travel in 3.5D,” written and directed by Randy Mulinex, had its opening performance at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, 664 H St.

Additional 6:30 p.m. performances will be held tonight through Saturday, and July 5-7. There will also be a special 3 p.m. show on Wednesday, July 4. Tickets cost $6 at the door.  For more information call, 465-4730.

 

Activities at Harbor Gallery

Gasquet artist Rick Bennett will give a watercolor demonstration at Crescent Harbor Gallery at noon today, preceded by a potluck.

Bennett has worked in Del Norte County for well over half a century, and during that time taught art and art history to hundreds of high school and college students.    

The gallery’s artist of the month for June is Kathy Huxley, an oil painter from  Brookings. A sampling of her work is currently on display, along with pieces by other gallery members.

Art exhibit at courthouse

The Art in Public Places exhibit up in the Del Norte County Courthouse is a solo show of paintings by Crescent City artist Philip Wadsworth.

Titled “Abstracts & Landscapes,” the show consists of nine large works in oil and hangs through next Thursday, July 5.

‘The Boarding House’ continues

Brookings Harbor Community Theater’s production of “The Boardinghouse” continues this and next weekend at the Harbor Performing Arts Center.

Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10 general admission, $9 for seniors, $7 for students and are available at Wright’s Custom Framing in Brookings and New Wave Video in Harbor.

Summer Recycled Art Program

A free Summer Recycled Art Program is under way at the Del Norte County Library.  Sponsored by Recology Del Norte and Julindra Recycling, the suggested age range for this program is 8-13.

The program continues from  3 to 5 p.m. on July 5, and will be held every other Thursday thereafter (July 19, Aug. 2, 16 and 30). For more information, call the library at 464-9793.

 

Pistol River concert is July 7

The Pistol River Concert Association presents “Three Generations of Guitar Masters” as its 30th anniversary concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, in the Pistol River Friendship Hall.

Featured will be Jaxon Williams with special guests Grant Ruiz and Joseph Thompson.  Tickets are $15 each and are available at The Book Dock in Harbor, Wright’s Custom Framing in Brookings, and Gold Beach Books.
