Choir Camp auditions tonight

The general information and audition night for the third annual Summer Youth Choir Camp is today at 7 p.m. in the Del Norte High School music room.

The camp is for students entering the fifth through ninth grades and will be held 9 a.m. to noon weekdays from Monday, July 9, through Thursday, July 19.

Next Art Walk is June 29

Representatives of galleries and other businesses that would like to participate in the upcoming Crescent City Art Walk on Friday, June 29, are asked to call Eileen, 465-6000, no later than June 13 for details and information.

Activities at Harbor Gallery

Crescent Harbor Gallery’s artist of the month for June is Kathy Huxley, an oil painter from Brookings. A sampling of her work is currently on display, along with pieces by other gallery members.

Gasquet artist Rick Bennett will give a watercolor demonstration beginning at noon on Thursday, June 28, preceded by a potluck. Bennett has worked in Del Norte County for well over half a century, and during that time taught art and art history to hundreds of high school and college students.

Art in Public Places exhibit

The Art in Public Places exhibit up in the Del Norte County Courthouse is a solo show of paintings by

Crescent City artist Philip Wadsworth.

‘Boarding House’ opens June 22

Brookings Harbor Community Theater’s production of “The Boarding House,” opens June 22 in the Harbor Performing Arts Center and runs for two weekends.

Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10 general admission, $9 for seniors, $7 for students and are available at Wright’s Custom Framing in Brookings and New Wave Video in Harbor. Art Program starts June 23

A free Summer Recycled Art Program will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, at the Del Norte County Library. Sponsored by Recology Del Norte and Julindra Recycling, the suggested age range for this program is eight to 13 years. The program will then continue every other Thursday (i.e., July 5 and 19 and Aug. 2, 16 and 30) through Aug. 30. For more information, call the library at 464-9793.

LRT melodrama starts June 27

Lighthouse Repertory Theatre’s summer melodrama, “Return Back to the Melodrama, The Trilogy or The End of Time — Travel in 3.5D,” written/directed by Randy Mulinex, will have its opening performance at 6:30 p.m. June 27 at the United Methodist Church, 664 H St.

Additional 6:30 p.m. performances will be held June 28-30 and July 5–7. There will also be a special 3 p.m. show on July 4.
