Del Norte County attorney Sasha Weaver Upton is bursting with pride about her son, Stephen Nash's new job.
"He's a wonderful kid, and I'm glad to have this big success for him," Weaver Upton said. "He's been a very good son."
Nash was named appointed in April to administrative Office of the Courts director of finance.
When Weaver Upton got the news about her son's promotion, she began alerting everyone in her family.
"I sent e-mails out to the entire family," she said.
Nash was "very quiet" in high school, but "became outgoing in college," she added.
He attended Cal State-Sacramento. His step-father is Earl Upton.
His new job, which began April 2, includes duties overseeing branch-wide fiscal services for accounting, auditing, budget management and planning, and procurement and contract services.
He has served as assistant director of finance since 2002.
Administrative Director of the Courts William C. Vickrey said that Nash is highly regarded in state government circles for his "extensive" knowledge of fiscal policies and procedures, and brings with him "a wealth" of experience.
He has also worked as deputy director of Administrative Services for the California Youth Authority, and has worked at the Department of Finance and the Employment Development Department.
