Awareness ride a ‘huge success’

Submitted With the support of Trek Bicycle Corporation and Sutter Coast Hospital, Back Country Bicycles played host to this national event. This was the third year that Tom and I have hosted the ride. With perfect weather and great community involvement, we doubled the number of riders to 133 this year and raised a total of $4,625, all of which goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. We had riders from the Grants Pass-Medford area and Redding, as well as Brookings and Humboldt County. The ride started and ended at Sunset High School where, after finishing a 10- or 25-mile course, the riders were treated to a grand lunch that included lasagna, salad, bread and a wonderful berry crisp and cookies made by the culinary arts students at Sunset and served by the local Girl Scout Troop. Thanks to all for making this a successful event. |
