The old and the new of country music come to Del Norte this weekend with high-profile concerts at the local casinos.
Up-and-coming singer Brett Eldredge will perform Friday night at Elk Valley Casino.
On Saturday night, longtime country singer and songwriter Bobby Bare will perform at the Tolowa Events Center adjacent to Lucky 7 Casino in Smith River.
Eldredge will perform at 8 p.m. Friday at Elk Valley, with doors opening at 7 p.m.
“I always gravitated toward big voices because as a kid I had this big voice coming out of me,” says Eldredge. “I was hooked on the story that somebody would be telling through their voice.”
With his debut album slated to be released soon on Atlantic Records and a new single, “Don’t Ya,” on the radio now, Eldredge is finally getting the chance to share a story of his own in the Illinois native’s soulful, distinctive baritone.
Tickets cost $30 and are available by calling 707-465-2666, or going to elkvalleycasino.com.
Bare will perform Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Tolowa Events Center in Smith River. Last November, Bare released “Darker Than Light,” his first LP since 2005.
