Elders dinner scheduled

The Northern California Indian Development Council, Inc. will sponsor the 30th annual Northwest Intertribal Gathering and Elders Dinner on Saturday at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds, 3750 Harris St., Eureka. The gathering is a community event that provides an opportunity to honor all elders and veterans. All elders over 55, regardless of ethnicity, will be served a free turkey dinner with traditionally cooked salmon beginning at noon followed by an Elders’ Gifting Ceremony at 3 p.m. The dinner will be available to all others for a nominal charge. During the event, American Indian arts and crafts will be available for sale, and there will be native singers, a drum group and dance demonstrations.
