Fish, game discounts for some disabled veterans

Discounted California hunting and fishing licenses are available to any honorably-discharged veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces with a service-connected disability rating of 50 percent or more.

However the detailed verification process for discounted licenses requires they the be sold only at one of the state's 10 Department of Fish and Game sales offices. The nearest office to Del Norte County is in Eureka.

But DFG spokesman Kyle Orr told The Daily Triplicate that eligible veterans may get their discounted licenses through the mail.

Proof of eligibility from the United States Veterans Administration or a copy of last year's license must be mailed to Department of Fish and Game License Sales Office, 619 Second Street, Eureka, CA 95501.

For more information,

call the Eureka sales office at 445-6493.
