A fundraiser is planned Sunday at the Two Guys parking lot at 775 Hwy. 101 North to benefit a local woman diagnosed with stage three non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Sue Tison (Arceneaux) was born and raised in Del Norte County, attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Del Norte High School. She fell in love and married her high school sweetheart, Dan Tison, a local fisherman.

Elaine Gardner, Sue’s cousin, has been rallying the community for donations to assist with Sue’s medical expenses.

“I’ve been going around to businesses for weeks asking for donations for the raffle,” said Gardner. “Many don't even know her but were willing to give. I asked people on Facebook to send her cards to lift her spirits and they came pouring in from friends and strangers.”

Some of the donations collected for the raffle so far include a $500 certificate for yard and lawn care, a full automotive detail and an AKC-registered mini dachsund puppy, as well as a myriad of gift certificates for dinners, coffee and spa services.

“The Tison family and I would like to thank all who are praying, have sent cards and donated for Sue’s cause,” said Gardner. “Your acts of kindness and love are the best parts of a person’s life.”

The fundraiser will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and will include baked goods, items for sale, live music, Indian tacos and raffles.

For more information or if you would like to help, call Elaine Gardner at 954-1059. An account has also been set up in Sue’s name at Umpqua Bank.
