The Smith River Rancheria Maintenance Department, in conjunction with the Summer Youth Employment Program, recently conducted a community service project at the Rowdy Creek Fish Hatchery, located at 255 N. Fred Haight Drive in Smith River.

Employees of both the maintenance department and youth program prepared the exteriors of various hatchery buildings and painted them. Handrails at the facility were also painted and general yard work was done.

The tribal government of the Smith River Rancheria has always been committed to the people of Northern California and Southern Oregon.

“Our tribe has a long-term commitment to the communities of our region,” said Kara Brundin-Miller, Tribal chairperson.

During the month of July, Smith River Rancheria donated more than  $5,000 in materials and labor for the renovation of Rowdy Creek Fish Hatchery. This project is just another example of this long-held commitment.
