Praising voters' participation as "the most American thing you can do," Del Norte Superior Court Judge Robert W. Weir ushered an even dozen candidates in to his courtroom's jury box and swore them into office on Monday.
Each of the dozen county election winners was given his or her Certificate of Election as they came forward from the crowd.
Sworn in shortly after noon were Christie Babich as auditor, Thomas Cochran as representative of the school board's District 5, William Follett for another term as Superior Court judge and Vicky Frazier as county clerk.
Accompanying them were Gerry Hemmingson as county supervisor district 4, Dawn Langston as treasurer, Jan Moorehouse as school superintendent, William Parker as representative of the school board's District 2, Michael Sullivan as county supervisor for District 3, Dean Wilson as sheriff and Louise Wilson as assessor.
"We wish you the strength, patience and wisdom to do your jobs," Weir said. "Your failure is our failure."
