Five members of an honor guard made up of correctional officers from Pelican Bay State Prison returned recently from Washington, D.C.

They attended the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation’s Project 2000, an event that took place at the National Peace Officer’s Memorial Park, near the Capitol.

The local correctional officers taking part included Lt. Rick Graves, Sgt. Mike Wolf, Ken Royal,Amanda Hernandez and Renelle Chisman.

They attended a convention at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Crystal City, near Arlington, Va., and also visited sites including the White House.
