Submitted In honor of its dedication to supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in its mission to find cures for childhood cancer, Bicoastal Media recently received the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Partner of the Year award. Over the past decade the company’s participating radio stations raised more than $2.3 million dollars for the kids of St. Jude with the help of its listeners, supporters and sponsors.
Bicoastal Media’s President and COO, Michael Wilson, along with KRED
DJ Rollin Trehearne, accepted the award at an annual Volunteer
Appreciation Dinner held July 31 in Memphis, Tenn. “We are grateful for
this recognition,” Wilson said. “Our team works hard every day to keep
the mission of St. Jude top of mind with our listeners. We’re delighted
to play a small part in helping raise funds so the researchers and
doctors can continue to work miracles every day. The true reward from
this partnership is the gratitude we see in the eyes of the parents and
kids of St. Jude.”
On the west coast, Bicoastal Media’s main fundraising programs both
support St. Jude: the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon and the
Radio Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon. The radiothons span 26 hours
for more than two days, and on-air announcers relate their experiences
visiting the hospital and share patient stories. Listeners are then
encouraged to call in to the stations, where teams of local volunteers
ask them to become “Partners In Hope” by making a $20-per-month
donation (only 67 cents a day) that helps St. Jude make a big impact in
the lives of children fighting cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
