Movie map unveiling at lighthouse

Del Norte County’s ceremony celebrating the launch of “Map of the Movies: Filmed on the Redwood Coast” will take place at Battery Point Lighthouse this afternoon.

The map, which was developed by the Humboldt-Del Norte Commission, features 30 locations each in Del Norte and Humboldt counties where scenes of various movies were filmed, including “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” and “E.T. the Extra Terrestrial.”

The map shows Crescent City’s iconic lighthouse on the cover and is an updated version of an older map created 20 years ago that didn’t include Del Norte. It will be available at the Crescent City-Del Norte Chamber of Commerce and online atwww.filmhumboldtdelnorte.org/mapofthemovies.

The unveiling ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m. at the Battery Point Lighthouse Trailhead at the foot of A Street in Crescent City. The ceremony will be followed by cake at 5 p.m. at the Crescent City-Del Norte Chamber of Commerce at 1001 Front Street in Crescent City.
