To celebrate National Park Week, Redwood National and State Parks will host a special Junior Ranger Day on Saturday.
Part of a larger National Junior Ranger Day hosted by national parks throughout the country, children can enjoy activities and receive special awards.
An activity newspaper will lead participants through the park and rangers will swear them in as Junior Rangers. Ranger-guided programs will start at each end of the parks at 10 a.m. and end at noon with picnics and a special reception at 3 p.m.
The Junior Ranger program aims to involve children aged seven to 12 years old, along with their families, in the parks' stories.
