Passports made easy by USPS

The U.S. Postal Service will set up a Passport Booth in the Arts and Crafts building at Del Norte County Fairgrounds, 421 U.S. Hwy. 101 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

To apply for a passport for the first time, bring proof of U.S. citizenship such as a certified copy of a birth certificate, or a certificate of citizenship or a naturalization certificate, and a valid form of photo ID such as a current Driver's License, government ID or military photo ID.

If you are renewing, simply bring the old passport.

Fee for first-time applicants is $97 plus photo. Applicants pay $67 to the Department of State and $30 to the Postal Service. Renewals cost $67. Passports are mailed about eight to 10 weeks later. An expedited, four- six-week process costs $185.
