Senior Sleuth: Counter Culture ideas on radio show

Dr. Dan Schultz of Maitreya Healing Center has a new local radio talk show on KFUG 101.1 FM on Monday nights from 7–8 p.m. The show is called “Counter- Culture Radio.”

I visited the broadcast studio at 270 I St. in Crescent City on June 30 to listen to Dr. Schultz’s phone interview with Fred Burks, host of the website Want

Fred Burks, before resigning from the U.S. State Department in 2004 due to excessive secrecy demands, served many years as a language interpreter for presidents and other dignitaries. He interpreted for G.W. Bush, Clinton, Gore, Cheney and many other top officials of the U.S. and other countries.

Having participated in numerous secret meetings where the only people allowed were the principals and their interpreters, Burks said he has acquired important inside information and contacts.

He said he was particularly shocked in 2001 when a friend sent him a video of a meeting of the National Press Club in which 22 high level military government witnesses testified to personal involvement in a major cover--up of UFOs.

These 22 people all gave information that Burks said he checked and verified. He thought if they were covering this up, what else were they hiding? Dr. Schultz said he saw the same video, entitled the UFO Disclosure Project, and was equally shocked.

Burks started his website, WantToKnow.info, in 2002 after receiving a wealth of eye-opening information on major cover--ups from respected friends, colleagues, and other websites, he said.

The interview I listened to on June 30 was really just a tease to get you to go on the website because a brief description doesn’t do it justice.

Both Dr. Schultz and Fred Burks expressed agreement that it’s important to learn about the problems in the world and tease out the details, but that it’s also important to seek solutions. Otherwise, we just feel hopeless and discouraged, they said. Burks’ website “is a call to move beyond complacency and apathy and to focus on our deeper purpose in life and on creating the world we want to live in.”

Burks said he believes the old hierarchical paradigm of a couple thousand years of power at the top will give way to a new paradigm of people coming together, helping each other, and using each other’s services. If we build our network around the locally-based economy and support structures, as the old hierarchy collapses we can catch the pieces and put this new paradigm in place, Burks said.

As he puts it, each of us creates our own reality, and our unconscious beliefs shape our world. For example, if you feared your dad when you were a kid, you’re probably not going to trust the world; you’re not going to trust power. Or if you had a very loving mother, as Burks did, you’re probably going to trust the universe and have the strength to look beneath the shadows to see what’s going on and how you can change things, he said.
