Sowing goodwill with the Sunrise Garden Club |
The Sunrise Garden Club enjoyed its annual Christmas luncheon and gift exchange at the home of Pat Reynolds. For the past five years, the club has donated poinsettias to each person in the Meals on Wheels Program. The club has an annual plant sale at the Del Norte Fairgrounds at the first Farmers Market to raise funds for its numerous contributions to the community. The Sunrise Garden Club donated the acrylics for the Jed Smith mural on the Ace Hardware building, funds for plants at the Harrington House, books to our public library, planted floral boxes at the Del Norte Historical Museum building, planted flower boxes at numerous Crescent City businesses and planted the concrete planters at the harbor. This year the club donated funds to the interns at Ocean Air Farms in Fort Dick. In the past it has provided plants and maintenance at the Del Norte Senior Center and at the Crescent City Convalescent Hospital. The Sunrise Garden Club meets at 11:30 a.m. on the second Thursday of every month at the Edward Jones Building at Third and H streets. New members are welcome and dues are free. |
